01Picture quality
Independent testing confirms high brightness, strong processing and impressive control for a screen with a light behind it. Fine high-detail material can look exceptionally clean after clean up older or poorer-quality programmes, but distance matters: at normal 65-inch seating positions, the step from excellent high-detail to 8K is far less dramatic than the listed features suggests.
02Gaming and motion
extra-smooth high-detail play, automatic smoothing for games and automatic smoothing for games are supported, but games rendered natively at 8K remain rare. The wireless connection box makes installation flexible; competitive players should still understand that any wireless video system introduces another link between source and screen.
03Living with it
The cable-light wall installation is genuinely elegant, especially in a finished room where chasing new wires is difficult. Samsung's television menus includes the major apps and gaming services. Power use, purchase price and the separate box make this a luxury system rather than a simple television upgrade.
Price and value
The exact 65-inch Samsung QN990F was listed at £2,999 in the UK when we checked on 17 August 2026. That 65-inch price is used throughout this review and by the buying guide; a cheaper 55-inch version cannot improve its value score. Prices and promotions can change, so confirm the model number and final basket total before buying.

Who will notice the difference?
Design-led media wall
The wireless source box can keep visible cabling unusually tidy.
Premium clean up older or poorer-quality programmes
Strong processing makes high-quality high-detail sources look exceptionally clean.
8K content buyer
The shortage of native material remains the central reason not to buy it.
What else should you consider?
£2,999 · Flagship high-detail televisions with deep-looking blacks provide perfect black and more useful the extra brightness used by modern films format support, while Samsung's high-detail bright-screen television models retain bright-room strengths for less. The QN990F is for installation, processing and engineering appeal rather than mainstream value.
Our review process
