What it gets right
- Battery installation works with almost any front door
- Useful person, parcel, animal and vehicle alerts are easy to understand
- Tall video view helps show both a visitor and a parcel near the doorstep
- Works neatly with Google Home speakers and displays
The compromises
- The doorbell must be removed and recharged periodically
- Longer video history and some advanced features require Nest Aware
- Best experience is tied to the Google Home system rather than every smart-home platform
Buy it—or leave it?
- Your home already uses Google Home speakers, displays or cameras
- Your entrance has no suitable doorbell wiring
- Clear alerts for people and parcels matter more than the cheapest purchase price
- You do not want to take the doorbell down for charging
- You want long video history without paying for a subscription
- Your smart home is built mainly around a different voice-assistant platform
What it is actually like
Open any section for the detail behind our verdict.
01Alerts and picture
The camera is designed to show visitors from head to toe and include the ground where a parcel is likely to sit. Intelligent alerts make the notification more helpful than a basic motion warning.
02Installation and charging
The included mounting parts let it work where no doorbell cable exists. Battery life varies with activity, temperature and settings, so a busy doorway will need charging more often than a quiet one.
03Ongoing costs
Live viewing and three hours of event history work without a subscription. Google Home Premium extends the recording history, so buyers who want to look back over several days should include that recurring cost.
Price and value
£177.95 is Google's reference price. An optional Google Home Premium subscription raises the long-term cost, so compare the first-year total rather than the doorbell alone.

Who will notice the difference?
Parcel deliveries
A parcel-specific alert tells you why the camera has triggered, while the taller view helps show where the delivery was placed.
Speaking to visitors
Use the Google Home app or a compatible Nest screen to see and speak to somebody at the door before opening it.
A rented or awkward property
Battery power provides more placement freedom where compatible permanent doorbell wiring is unavailable, subject to the landlord's permission.
What else should you consider?
£177.95 · Wired doorbells avoid recharging, while battery models are easier to place. This model is most convincing when flexible installation and Google Home integration matter more than continuous recording.
