Our verdict
The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 14 is a 14-inch laptop aimed at work, study and home use. Notebookcheck, whose review unit was a different configuration from ours, describes a 1920 x 1200 IPS screen in the taller 16:10 shape, which shows more of a document or web page than a widescreen display of the same width. Its matte finish cuts reflections. It also lists a 60Wh battery, a 1.45kg weight and Wi-Fi 7. The version we priced has 8GB of memory (RAM, the space for running apps at once) and a 256GB SSD (storage for files). That is below our preferred 16GB and 512GB, so keep files in the cloud or on an external drive. At £379 on 1 August 2026 it is a budget option with clear limits.

Screen
Notebookcheck describes a 14-inch IPS panel at 1920 x 1200 pixels in 16:10 proportions, with a matte finish and a 60Hz refresh rate. The 16:10 shape is slightly taller than the usual widescreen, so you see more lines of a document without scrolling. IPS panels keep colours steady from side angles. Notebookcheck measured an average brightness of about 281 nits, which is fine indoors but not bright for a sunny window. Check the screen in a shop if you can.
Memory and storage
Our priced version has 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. Memory decides how many apps and browser tabs you can keep open before the laptop slows down, and 8GB suits light use only. The SSD holds everything you save, and 256GB fills quickly once Windows, apps and photos take their share. Notebookcheck's unit had 16GB and 512GB, so its speed tests do not describe this version. Cloud storage or an external drive helps with space.
Ports and connections
Notebookcheck lists three USB-A ports, one USB-C port that supports Power Delivery and DisplayPort output, an HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone socket and an SD card reader. USB-C can charge the laptop or drive an external monitor. It also lists Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, which suit modern routers and wireless accessories. That is a generous set for the price and means fewer dongles for a mouse, memory stick or camera card.
Portability and battery
Notebookcheck weighed its unit at 1.452kg and measured it at 17.9mm thick, with a 60Wh battery and a 65W charger in the box. The weight is easy to carry daily. The battery figure is the size of the battery, not a promise of hours of use, and we have not tested runtime. Our version is a different configuration, so treat battery life as something to check in independent reviews of that exact model.
