01Everyday use
The 6.1-inch screen with deep-looking blacks, Face ID and A18 internal hardware make the 16e feel like a modern iPhone during ordinary use. The traditional notch occupies more space than the alert area at the top of the screen, and the standard movement smoothness is less fluid than many Android displays, but neither prevents the phone from being fast and straightforward.
02Battery
Battery life is the standout benefit. Apple rates the 16e for up to 26 hours of video playback, four hours more than the standard iPhone 16 under Apple's own test. Independent testing also found strong endurance. people who want a manageable phone without carrying a power bank should take this seriously.
03Camera
The single high-detail camera takes strong everyday photographs and provides a useful 2x crop. What it cannot do is capture the wide group shots, buildings and macro close-ups available from a second wide-view camera. This is a practical limitation, not a listed features-sheet complaint.
04What has been removed
There is no magnetic charging, so magnetic chargers and accessories will not attach as they do on other recent iPhones. Wireless charging still works with Qi chargers but at a modest rate. Camera Control and the alert area at the top of the screen are also absent. Customers should know these differences before assuming the lower price is a simple bargain.

Who will notice the difference?
A manageable iPhone with strong battery life
The 16e best suits somebody who wants a smaller current iPhone and cares more about endurance than extra cameras.
Everyday calls, messages and main-camera photos
The A18 internal hardware and single high-detail camera cover ordinary use cleanly without adding complicated choices.
magnetic charging accessories and wide photographs
An iPhone 15 or 16 is the better fit when magnetic accessories or an wide-view camera are used regularly.
What else should you consider?
£499 · The iPhone 16e competes with discounted iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 deals. The 15 provides magnetic charging, the alert area at the top of the screen and an wide-view camera; the 16e provides newer performance, Apple's newer automatic tools support and better battery life. There is no universal winner—the correct choice depends on which missing feature would be noticed every day.
