Our verdict

The Osmo Pocket 4 makes sense if you want to film a day out without carrying a large camera. Its gimbal, a motorised mount that steadies the lens as you move, takes much of the wobble out of walking footage. Set the camera down and subject tracking can keep you in frame while you talk. There is 107GB of built-in storage, so you can start recording without a memory card. The UK Standard Combo has a £445 launch RRP; the £549 Creator Combo adds a wireless microphone and filming accessories. This is a research-based review of its everyday strengths and limits. We have not tested the camera ourselves.

Buy it if

  • You film days out, travel or family moments while walking
  • You often film yourself and want the camera to follow you
  • You want a small camera with storage ready to use

Skip it if

  • Your phone already gives you video you are happy with
  • You need optical zoom to film subjects far away
  • You need a waterproof camera for water or rough sports

Everyday use

A day out

The built-in storage saves you buying and packing a memory card straight away. You can add one later for longer trips. Keep the gimbal protected between clips, especially when putting the camera into a bag.

Talking to camera

Set it down, select yourself for tracking and speak without holding the camera at arm’s length. The Creator Combo’s wireless microphone is useful if your voice matters more than the surrounding sound.

Children and pets

Subject tracking can follow people and pets, which helps when they will not stay still. It still needs a clear view and suitable light; treat it as help with framing, rather than a guarantee that every clip will work.

The details, in plain English

Steady video while you walk

The gimbal is the main reason to choose this camera. It physically moves the lens to counter your hand movements, helping a walk through town look smoother on screen. The published tests agree that it works well, although vigorous movement can still show. Its 1-inch sensor, large for such a small camera, also helps it gather light. Detailed 4K recording suits travel scenes and family clips you want to keep. Slow-motion recording reaches 240 frames a second in 4K, so a brief jump can become a longer clip.

Keeping yourself in the frame

ActiveTrack 7.0 is DJI’s subject-tracking feature. Tap the person or pet you want to follow and the camera moves to keep them in view. That is useful when you are filming alone and need your hands free. It also supports vehicles, but is unavailable in some recording modes, including Timelapse and Panorama. Good light helps. For vertical selfies, check the framing carefully: the fixed lens can feel tighter than you expect.

Getting used to the controls

The rotating 2-inch touchscreen helps you frame shots without using your phone. Its bright display is useful outdoors, though text and menus are small. The zoom and custom buttons put common actions within reach, but are hidden when the screen is turned to vertical. Zoom is digital, so it crops the picture instead of bringing a distant subject closer with the lens. Beyond 2x, expect a visible loss of detail.

Recording through the day

The 107GB of built-in storage means you do not need a card on day one. A microSD card can add up to 1TB later. Battery life needs more care: DJI’s four-hour claim is for 1080p video at 24 frames a second, at 25°C, with Wi-Fi and the screen off. It is not a four-hour 4K promise. DJI rates charging to 80% at 18 minutes with its specified charger, sold separately.

Choosing the right package

The Standard Combo gives you the camera and the essentials for carrying and holding it. The Creator Combo adds a Mic 3 wireless transmitter, fill light, wide-angle lens, mini tripod and carrying bag. Those extras make more sense for regular talking-to-camera videos than occasional holiday clips. Built-in microphones also pick up surrounding noise. For editing, 10-bit D-Log preserves more colour information to adjust later; you can use the normal colour setting if you prefer less work.

UK version, package and buying details

The Amazon button selects the Standard Combo, EAN 6937224133099, with a £445 UK launch RRP. It includes the camera, USB-C cable, gimbal clamp, threaded handle, wrist strap and pouch. The separate DJI Creator Combo link selects the £549 package with the microphone and filming extras described above. Neither package includes a mains charger or battery handle. DJI’s UK policy lists a 24-month camera warranty; accessory cover varies. These are manufacturer reference prices, not current Amazon offers. Check the selected package, seller and checkout terms before buying.

Strengths and drawbacks

What it does well

  • The gimbal keeps walking footage steady without a separate stabiliser
  • Built-in storage lets you start filming without a memory card
  • Subject tracking helps keep you in shot when filming alone
  • Slow motion gives you room to stretch out short moments
  • The Creator Combo adds a wireless microphone for clearer speech

What to watch out for

  • Digital zoom loses detail as you move beyond 2x
  • The fixed wide lens can feel tight for vertical selfies
  • The small screen and menus take some getting used to
  • It is not waterproof, so it needs care around water
  • Neither combo includes a mains charger or battery handle

Start with what your phone is missing. This camera is most useful when you want steadier walking footage or tracking while filming alone. An action camera is a more suitable starting point for water and rough sports. A larger camera with interchangeable lenses offers more framing choices, but adds equipment to carry. Those are different ways to film, not products we have tested side by side.

Where our findings come from

We have not tested this camera ourselves. This research-based review combines DJI’s UK specifications, exact combo contents and warranty policy with the independent hands-on reviews linked below. Practical conclusions are our assessment of that evidence. The four-hour battery figure is DJI’s conditional claim, not our measured result. UK buying details and the selected Amazon Standard Combo were checked on 31 October 2026; the default seller was Amazon. Sellers can change, and checkout or delivery to an address was not tested.
