Connect a soundbar
Send the television's sound to a separate soundbar or home cinema system.
Use the pictures where shown. Follow the short instructions between them.

Find the TV’s ARC socket
Find the HDMI socket marked ARC or eARC on your TV.
This example uses HDMI 1. Yours may use a different number or position; match the ARC or eARC label.

Find the TV’s ARC socket
Find the HDMI socket marked ARC or eARC on your TV.

STEP 2
Connect the HDMI cable
Connect the TV’s ARC/eARC socket to the soundbar’s HDMI OUT (TV ARC/eARC) socket.
The soundbar end is HDMI OUT, not an ordinary HDMI IN socket. The diagram shows example LG hardware.
STEP 3
Choose the soundbar input
On the soundbar, choose its ARC input. This LG example uses the F button to select OPT/HDMI ARC.
Your soundbar may use an Input or Source button. Match its own labels.
STEP 4
Open the TV’s full settings
Press and hold Settings on the TV remote, or open Settings and select All Settings.
The picture shows All Settings in the quick menu. Your TV’s layout may look a little different.
STEP 5
Open Sound
Choose Sound in All Settings.

STEP 6
Choose HDMI ARC output
Open Sound Out and select HDMI ARC or the equivalent ARC/eARC output on your TV.
Sound Out shows HDMI ARC in this example. Your menu may have an extra wired-speaker choice.
STEP 7
Check the connection and sound
Play something on the TV and gently raise the soundbar volume.
The pictured LG soundbar displays ARC. Other models may use a light or different label. An indicator alone does not confirm audible sound.

Your menus may look different after an update. Look for the same control name and take your time.
