Set up fingerprint or face unlock
Unlock the phone quickly and securely without typing a PIN every time.

Open Settings
Open Settings and use the search box to search for Fingerprint or Face unlock.

Open Settings and use the search box to search for Fingerprint or Face unlock.
STEP 2
Choose an unlock method
Select Fingerprint or Face unlock from the results. You will need a PIN, pattern or password set up as a backup first.
STEP 3
Follow the on-screen steps
Lift and lower your finger repeatedly on the sensor, or look directly at the camera, until the setup is complete.
Not every model has both a fingerprint sensor and a face scanner, so you may only see one option.
STEP 4
Tap Screen lock and biometrics
STEP 5
Confirm it is you
If asked, enter your PIN, pattern or password.

Your menus may look different after an update. Look for the same control name and take your time.
