STEP 2
Open Settings
Tap the small cog near the bottom right.
The Settings cog is beside the power button, near the bottom.

STEP 3
Find Battery
Scroll down in Settings until you see Battery, then tap it.
This picture is further down the Settings list. Battery sits between Back up or copy data and System. The charge shown is only an example.

STEP 4
Open Battery Saver
Tap Battery Saver.
Battery Saver is below Battery usage. The example has an automatic 20% setting; yours may differ.

STEP 5
Choose Standard Battery Saver
Tap Standard Battery Saver if its circle is not already selected.
The filled circle beside Standard Battery Saver means it is selected. Extreme Battery Saver pauses most apps and their notifications, so it is not needed for this guide.

STEP 6
Switch Battery Saver on
Tap the switch beside Use Battery Saver.
The switch is off in this picture. You can leave Schedule and reminders unchanged.

STEP 7
Check that it is on
Check that the Use Battery Saver switch circle has moved to the right.
Battery Saver is now on, with Standard Battery Saver still selected.

IF SOMETHING LOOKS DIFFERENT
A little help along the way.
Your menus may look different after an update. Look for the same control name and take your time.
I cannot find that option+
Check that this guide covers your device and software. If the names do not match, use the manufacturer’s instructions linked below for your model.
I need to go back a step+
Use Previous step or select a step number above. This changes the guide only; it does not undo anything on your device.
Are these pictures of my device?+
They are example screens showing exactly where to tap. Your names, apps, wallpaper and layout may look a little different, but the options you need are the same. Some pictures show what you should see after a step.
