Turn on Do Not Disturb
Silence calls and notifications for a while without switching the phone off.

Open Control Centre
Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen.
Start from the top-right status area on the pictured iPhone.

STEP 1
Open Control Centre
Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen.
On an iPhone with a Home button, swipe up from the bottom edge instead.
Start from the top-right status area on the pictured iPhone.
STEP 2
Open the Focus choices
Tap the word Focus beside the moon icon.
The Focus control is below the rotation lock and bell controls.
STEP 3
Choose a duration
Tap the three dots beside Do Not Disturb.
Do Not Disturb is the first row; its three-dot button opens time options.
STEP 4
Choose when it ends
Tap Until this evening, or choose For 1 hour if you want a shorter pause.
The expanded menu offers For 1 hour and Until this evening.
STEP 5
Check that it is on
Check for On Until beneath Do Not Disturb and a tick beside your choice.
The example shows On Until 19:00 with Until this evening selected. Your time may differ.
