Open Personal Hotspot

Read the Wi-Fi Password on your phone. Share it only with the person connecting.
The password here is an example. Use your own phone’s password.

STEP 4
Allow the other device to join
Turn on Allow Others to Join.
Allow Others to Join is off before you tap its switch.

STEP 5
If Wi-Fi is off
If this message appears, choose Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. If it does not appear, continue.
This optional prompt appears when Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are off.

STEP 6
If only Bluetooth is off
If you see this different message, choose Wi-Fi and USB Only to share over Wi-Fi.
This is an alternative prompt, not a second message everyone must see.

STEP 7
Keep this page open
Leave the Personal Hotspot page open on your iPhone.
The green switch means sharing is ready. This picture shows the sharing iPhone, not the other device.

STEP 8
Open Wi-Fi on the other device

STEP 9
Choose your iPhone
Select your iPhone's name in the Wi-Fi list.

STEP 10
Enter the password
Type the Wi-Fi password shown on your iPhone, then join.

IF SOMETHING LOOKS DIFFERENT
A little help along the way.
Your menus may look different after an update. Look for the same control name and take your time.
I cannot find that option+
Check that this guide covers your device and software. If the names do not match, use the manufacturer’s instructions linked below for your model.
I need to go back a step+
Use Previous step or select a step number above. This changes the guide only; it does not undo anything on your device.
Are these pictures of my device?+
They are example screens showing exactly where to tap. Your names, apps, wallpaper and layout may look a little different, but the options you need are the same. Some pictures show what you should see after a step.
