Check for a software update
Install available iOS or iPadOS improvements.

Connect to Wi-Fi and plug into power if the battery is low.

Connect to Wi-Fi and plug into power if the battery is low.
STEP 2
Open Settings
Tap the grey Settings icon on your Home Screen.
STEP 3
Tap General
Scroll down a little and tap General.
STEP 4
Tap Software Update
Tap Software Update, just below About.
STEP 5
Tap Update Now
If an update is listed, tap Update Now.
Rather it installed overnight? Tap Update Tonight instead and leave the iPhone charging.
If you see Your iPhone is up to date, there is nothing to do. The update name and size are examples.
STEP 6
Let it restart
Follow the message and keep the device connected to power until it finishes.

Your menus may look different after an update. Look for the same control name and take your time.
